Garlic Scapes
Garlic Scapes! In the spring, Hardneck garlics grow one flower stalk out of each bulb. This Curly-stemmed stalk and its bud on the end can be used just like garlic. If you can imagine a thin, strongly garlic flavored asparagus, you're imagining garlic scapes. Once you've imagined that far, you're ready to use garlic scapes in all of your garlicky food. Use for stir fry, pesto, garlic bread, marinades, pasta sauce, or simply grill or broil them for a delicious garlic treat. They're only available for a few weeks, so get them while you can.
