Kohlrabi

Kohlrabi is a unique member of the brassica plant family that makes a bulb on the bottom and has edible leaves on the top. I've been describing it to our farmers market customers as "a tender, Broccoli stem flavored, radish with a small bunch of Kale greens on top." Our Kohlrabi are small and tender, with 3 or 4 to the bunch weighing a total of about a pound. Slice the bulb and eat by itself or in a salad. You can also slice or chunk the bulb and roast in the oven with your other veggies. Cut the tops off and steam or stir fry.
